AVIS ready to join Grupo Meridial
The Group diced to construct its 10 floating waste conversion facilities in Spain. Meridial group historically carries out its activity in the naval industry through the company Marina Meridional, the holding company is immersed in a program of heavy investments, mainly in the group's naval decision. During 2020, the company acquired two shipyards in Spain (Huelva and Vigo), which are added to the other two already existing in the group.
The objective of the group is to place Spain once again as a benchmark for shipbuilding in the world, a position it enjoyed years ago and which will mean an important generation of wealth for the country in terms of employment.
For the construction of a new style of ships, AVIS needs infrastructure and man power. The family business of Gruppo Meridional find their chance in joining AVIS to secure jobs for their thousands of ship engineers, combining at the same time to become a leading ship builder by employ the AVIS technologies of tomorrow. AVIS inject into Meridial Group initially up to €2 billion in tranches for modernizing its facilities infrastructure and adding robotic 3D printers.
The mergers are financed by the green note issue program. AVIS has launched for its large industrial mergers, in 2019 a unique secured green bond at the Swiss markets and about the COVID-19 brake down restructured during 2021-2022. The “AVIS Green Bond Programme” with a syndicated volume of 50 billions Swiss Francs, is covering the acquisitions and processing by AVIS.
