AVIS considers producing its industrial waste conversion fleet in Spain. It could be a salvation for the Spanish shipyard sector. 

Spanish Shipyards suffer a decade in losses

losses of the public shipyards have increased in the last decade. Navantia lost 78 million euros in 2012 and cut back to 57.7 million in 2013 and 29 million in 2014, however, the effects of the crisis and inactivity took their toll in 2015 with a loss of 160 million euros, which soared in the 2016 financial year with 303 million euros in losses.

Subsequently, it added losses worth 296 million in 2017 and 224 million in 2018 until now standing at 173 million. This is the trajectory of a company that has its hopes pinned on its strategic plan. Navantia signed with its union representatives on December 21, 2018, the application of an industrial plan that involves the surprised early retirement of 2,200 workers, of which 645 correspond to the Bay of Cádiz, 900 to the Galician plants and the rest to the factory of Cartagena and offices. This plan also implies the hiring of 1,658 new employees until 2022.

The AVIS Team located in Murcia preserve intensive negotiating with several ship constructors for the advent of an alliance between AVIS Energy and a local corporate structure with sufficient  capability for the constructing of firstly 10 AVIS 300meter waste recycling carriers.

The fleet will be an example in how and where the shipping industry will be going to in the nearby future.

Complicated Interviews

The negotiating with Spanish shipyards are complicated and problematic. Most of the Spanish industries are old, outdated, and the managers holding on to old tradition.

A variety of new calculations, industrial material checks and approvals have to be made in order to drift such a tanker on the world's oceans.

In addition, the ambitious venture is complicated by the use of innovative power generators based on “heavy water” and alternative reactors. The goal of the AVIS engineers is completely eliminating the petroleum-burning for the energy production in all transport sectors.

1) A budget of initial EUR3.000.000.000,00 for the production of the first 10 Bulk Carriers.

2) A capital injection of EUR1.000.000.000,00 into the Shipyard for the issuance of new shares. Means the Shipyard should improve its company, forming into a Tier1 and issue new share to be delivered to AVIS Global.

3) AVIS will supply credits for the re-finance of all the old  “Shipyards” debt shape (if any) through the local financial system.

3) AVIS will guide the transport of new technologies for the reformatting into a high-tech 3D production center.  

4) The Shipyard will reformat into a public traded business enterprise (during a certain time)

5) Finally, the historical shareholders of the shipyard will multiply their equity value for at least 100 times and the workload of the shipyard will be secured for the next years by endless jobs applications.
